Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875–1950) was an American author best known as the creator of Tarzan and the Barsoom series. After trying his hand at a variety of occupations, Burroughs began writing fiction in his thirties and quickly became one of the most popular adventure writers of the early twentieth century. Over his career, he produced dozens of novels blending action, romance, fantasy, and science fiction, creating characters and imaginary worlds that remain widely read more than a century later.
