The Warlord of Mars

Six Martian months have passed since John Carter last saw Dejah Thoris, sealed inside the revolving prison of the Temple of the Sun. With Dejah still beyond his reach, Carter follows a treacherous enemy into the caverns beneath Mars—and discovers that his search will carry him through kingdoms, frozen wastes, and deadly intrigue.

From the River Iss to the northern realm of the yellow Martians, Carter faces treachery, beasts, and rulers who would use Dejah Thoris as a prize. Aided by friends and driven by determination, he battles through prison and palace alike, risking everything to find her.

The Warlord of Mars is Edgar Rice Burroughs’s third Barsoom adventure: a tale of swordplay, daring escapes, strange landscapes, and devotion. John Carter’s saga continues in this planetary romance, where courage may decide the fate of kingdoms—and reunite two people separated by a world.
